HIMSS19 Conference

Penguin Location Services was happy to attend this year’s HIMSS. With more than 42,000 professionals attending HIMSS 19, it was great to see that companies from around the world came to provide better healthcare products and solutions. The focus of the event was to advance the safety, efficiency and quality of care, digitization of healthcare, use of Artificial Intelligence and AI in healthcare applications, interoperability, data protection, and IT security.

The president & CEO of HIMSS, Hal Wolf, started the event by a keynote speech stating “Now more than ever, healthcare needs a renaissance”. One can understand Mr Wolf’s comment, in light of the fact that healthcare global market is expected to grow to $158 billion by 2022. This would generate a massive opportunity for healthcare organizations to deliver the vast infrastructure required to deliver Healthcare digitization.

A lot of emphasis was directed at healthcare providers needing to invest in the tools and technologies necessary to better engage patients and enhance patient experience, such as:

  • Wayfinding and hospital wayfinding systems for patient navigation
  • Reducing perceived wait times
  • Recognizing Donors
  • Promoting hospital services
  • Generating revenue with advertising
  • Staff communications

Source

Patients have higher expectations of the healthcare system and the technology that enables them to be consumers – which further raises their expectations. Patients now expect healthcare providers to offer the same kind of high-quality, personalized digital services they experience in their lives as consumers elsewhere.

Penguin Location Services does address significant parts and key aspects of the patient experience and some of the use cases and healthcare applications that Penguin offers, including hospital wayfinding systems and AI in healthcare solutions, can add real value and measurable benefits for better operational efficiency and healthcare operational excellence at the healthcare premises and medical facilities, which helps further the healthcare digitization and digital health transformation.

Penguin Location Services successfully implemented a Seamless Wayfinding Solution at Yas Water World

Image from: whitewaterwest

June 2018

Penguin Location Services is proud to announce the successful completion of another great seamless indoor outdoor wayfinding solution and theme park wayfinding system. It was implemented at Yas Water World which is a waterpark and one of the premier Abu Dhabi theme parks managed by Farah Experiences LLC, and is located on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi (UAE) and the Middle East region.

Enhancing the visitor’s experience by making navigation seamless is the first step

For the first-time, visitors and theme park guests of Yas Water World are able to navigate between rides and attractions in the mixed indoor outdoor theme park without barriers and navigation challenges, significantly improving the water park visitor experience.

On an area and park footprint of more than 15 hectares of land, with over 40 rides and attractions, water slides, seven dining options and food courts and much more entertainment facilities, the need for theme park wayfinding solution and visitor guidance system arose as the opportunity to lose one’s way and visitor disorientation is easily imagined in such large-scale venues and entertainment complexes, making water park visitor experience optimization crucial.

“We believe it is our responsibility to support the visitors to make the most out of their time and to create unforgettable memories at Yas Water World. Our solution provides an interactive map as well as a seamless turn-by-turn navigation with multi-language support.”

(Moe Hasan, product development manager at Penguin)

Further potential to enhance visitors’ journey at Yas Water World and other theme parks

There is an opportunity and potential for many other potential solutions and advanced features to be implemented at Yas Water World and other Abu Dhabi theme parks. These include location-based promotions and targeted marketing, notifications and push alerts, queue optimization and wait time management, location-based gaming and interactive experiences, family & group finder and companion tracking, data collection and visitor analytics and rich analytics and business intelligence.

In a following blog article and upcoming content, we want to discuss these use cases and applications and how our theme park wayfinding solutions and technology platform support the overall experience of all stakeholders and park operators at Yas Water World and other venues.
