Despite the uncertainty of COVID times, attendees and exhibitors were delighted to see the enthusiasm throughout HIMSS days. Indoor positioning technology is an enabler of some of the key themes presented by exhibitors, namely: Patient engagement and operational efficiency platforms.

Discussions with Cisco, Cisco Meraki and other connectivity vendors revealed that many are adopting next-gen Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5.1 as the key radio to support Internet of Things (IoT) and Location of Things (LoT) use cases. “Partnering with connectivity and infrastructure vendors is a precursor to building an ROI-driven indoor positioning solutions.” commented Mohammed Smadi, Managing Director of PenguinIN. In addition to presenting its wayfinding solution, PenguinIN was also excited to present its business rules engine and analytics capabilities to clients.
